The conversation with the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award honoree is part of the Indiana Authors Awards Speaker Program, powered by Indiana Humanities and made possible through the generosity of Glick Philanthropies.

Dave Griffith of South Bend, Indiana is the author of “A Good War is Hard to Find: The Art of Violence in America,” a collection of essays reflecting on how images of violence in film, literature, and news media shape our collective understanding of violence as a means of solving problems. He is a professor in the Center for University Advising at the University of Notre Dame and was formerly the director of creative writing at Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, Griffith also directs Write Differently, a program offering workshops for young writers on the autism spectrum.

We are excited to share this opportunity as a way to integrate Arts & Humanities into workplace wellness initiatives. By sponsoring this workshop, our goal is to provide Physicians and Non-Physician Providers with tools and prompts to reconnect to their original motivation to care, and cultivate renewed strategies to engage patients and stimulate professional growth. The impact we are working toward is to reduce feelings of burnout and dis-engagement, and to encourage relationships, communication, and mutual support and empathy through the experience.
