2022 Children’s Shortlist
Judith L. Roth has lived half of her life in a beach town in Southern California and the so-far second-half of her life in northern Indiana. She’s been a piano teacher, a youth minister, an editor, and an ASL interpreter—but through it all, she was a writer. Now she writes almost full-time.
From earlier days, she has writing credits in far-flung genres (poetry, articles, curriculum, songs), but writing for children was always the goal. She now has six published picture books. Her last four are Goodnight, Dragons; Venetian Lullaby; Hiding Baby Moses (a JLG selection); and Cadence and Kittenfish: A Mermaid Tale, releasing at the end of August 2022. Her middle grade verse novel is Serendipity & Me.
Judy spends her free time reading, traveling, kayaking, cat-wrangling, and enjoying music and nature and family (especially those two wild granddaughters). She lives on a river bank with her husband and three cats in Elkhart, Indiana.
